OWNER & PRESIDENT
FOREST CITY ERECTORS, INC.
THE FOUNDER OF
FOREST CITY ERECTORS, INC.
Jim Mirgliotta started as an ironworker in 1951 two days after he graduated high school. In the winter of 1958, he was working on Route 8 Akron high-level bridge when the structure nearly collapsed and left him stranded 185 feet in the air without any safety apparatus. This experience is what prompted Mr. Mirgliotta to start a company.
In 1959 he started Park Iron Erectors. Then in 1961, Mr. Mirgliotta and his wife Bette were able to purchase fifty percent of a struggling Cleveland-based steel erector company, Forest City Erectors. They bought out their partner in 1970, Jim sold fifty-one percent of Forest City Erectors to his wife Bette, thus qualifying it as a Woman owned, Female Business Enterprise (FBE). In 1980 the business was moved to its current office in Twinsburg’s Industrial Park. After the passing of Bette Mirgliotta, their daughter, Denise Beers, bought her stock and now serves as the controlling owner thus maintaining the Female Owned Business status.
The business prospered and is now one of the largest full-service structural steel & construction material erection providers in the state of Ohio. Forest City Erectors has been involved in the building and renovation of projects such as First Energy Stadium, Cleveland Clinic, Medical Mart and Convention Center, Canton Football Hall of Fame, Sherwin Williams Headquarters & Facility, and Cuyahoga County Hilton Hotel.
Jim Mirgliotta is an advocate of OSHA and CEA’s safety program. He was a long-term president of the Steel and Iron Contractors Associated (1989-2003). He has been both president and vice president of The Association of Union Contractors and was recognized in 200 with its “Spirit of Union Construction” Award. In 2016, he was awarded the Guardian Award for his service, leadership, and mentorship.
Jim Mirgliotta still maintains a positive attitude and believes that doing things the right way is doing things the best way.
